Your life in Portugal
Find a place. Build a life.
Home starts here.
Search on established property portals, then use Expats to prepare: questions for viewings, warning signs to watch for, and help settling in. We don't list properties or check availability.
Where to look
Independent portals list most homes for rent and sale. Expats is not affiliated with them, receives no fees from them and does not verify their listings.

Saved homes & viewing notes
Soon you'll be able to keep your own private shortlist: paste a property link, add your notes and questions, and compare. Nothing is saved yet, and we will never copy listings from portals.
Rental readiness
- Work out a monthly budget that includes utilities, internet and transport, not only the rent.
- Prepare your questions before each viewing: what is included, contract length, and who handles repairs.
- See the property in person, or on a live video call, before paying anything.
- Ask for the contract in writing and read it fully before signing or paying a deposit.
- If anything is unclear, ask a qualified professional before you commit.
General preparation tips, not legal advice. Rules on contracts and deposits can change — check with a qualified professional.
Warning signs
- Pressure to pay a deposit before a viewing or a written contract.
- Requests to pay through untraceable methods or to someone other than the landlord or agency.
- A price far below similar homes nearby, with an urgent deadline.
Saving or viewing a home on Expats never means it has been checked or is safe.
No fake listings. Expats shows no properties, prices or availability of its own. Always confirm details directly with the landlord or agency.
